One of Islamorada’s pure treasures is a huge 40 acre multi recreational facility called Founders Park. The park is the center of all the community events that take place in Islamorada. Just to list all the activities available at this wonderful park would not even begin to highlight the value this park brings to locals and tourists alike (but we will anyway). Located bay side at Mile Marker 87, Founders Park is a must visit destination.

A palm tree lined beach is one of the main attractions at Founders. This is a place where you can relax and bring your family for full day of fun in the sun. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding are all offered at the public beach. The beach also offers a spotless public restroom with showers, a barbecue area with picnic tables, and a treed area for those that want some shade. Founder’s Park also offers affordable yoga classes on the beach during certain seasons; a serene experience for the body and soul. One of the best beaches in Islamorada!
Founders Park is also home to an Olympic sized swimming pool and an attached diving center with a 3 meter springboard and a 10 meter platform. Host to many local swim and dive events, the pool is also open to the public and can be used for recreational swims or for aerobic workouts. Beautiful manicured lawns surround the pool and makes for a relaxing day at the swim club.
Can we ever have a conversation about Islamorada that does not include fishing? Founders is also home to 88 slip marina that has a boat launch, a fuel dock, and a deep channel out to open waters. Fishing, Diving and Eco tours area all offered from the Marina.
There is no better place to get your heart pumping. Founders offers a walking, jogging, and biking trail that is almost a mile long and its scenic paths will let your forget you are exercising. Athletes, fitness junkies and sports enthusiasts will be impressed with Founders variety of offerings. This park boasts basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, soccer and baseball fields, beach yoga, boot camps, fitness classes, and more. Stop into the office to see their full class offerings and pick up all the equipment you need to have fun at Founders!
The park is also home to a huge amphitheater and host many concerts and festivals throughout the year. With ample parking, the park is free to locals and those staying in Islamorada. A small admission fee applies to those that are passing through. This beautiful, well maintained, multi activity facility is well worth the price of entry.
